Sydney's new one-of-a-kind entertainment venue, The Star, was officially reopened on 15 September 2011. The $870-million transformation of Star City includes the reorientation of the building to embrace Sydney Harbour and the city skyline.
The Star boasts more than 20 restaurants, bars and cafes, a new 171-room luxury boutique hotel, The Darling, a 16-room Spa, luxury retail collection and upscaled gaming areas. An all-star line-up of chefs, including David Chang, Stefano Manfredi, Teage Ezard and Chase Kojima, have set up signature restaurants at The Star, while a new deluxe cocktail lounge, Cherry, and live music venue, Rock Lily, ensure everyone's needs are catered for.
These new amenities complement the existing 480-room Astral Tower and Residences and 2000-seat Sydney Lyric theatre, while located on the main casino floor at The Star is one of the widest selections of table games and electronic table games on offer.
An international nightclub, Marquee Sydney, opened in March 2012 and a $100-million Event Centre, which hosts A-list performers in intimate concert settings, conferences, exhibitions and 900-seat banquet functions, opened in January 2013.
